Old To New

My Grandma asked me to fix a necklace for her. It is old and was falling apart. I also changed the clasp style to a magnetic one so that it may be easier for her to put it on - she has had a little trouble controlling her hands after a stroke. I also added a few new wooden beads to give the necklace a little contrast. The older beads seem to be polished stone of some sort.

That looks like Moonstone to me or some form of a light colored agate. Hard to tell unless I actually could hold it in my hands.

Beautifully redone piece though. Out of curiousity, do you scan your pieces or take digital pictures?

I've tried digital to share things I've worked on, but I wasn't to pleased with the resulting picture (to dark and then with flash to bright... and then my hand shakes more so then there's motion blur -_- )

Yeah, I had the same problem. I scan my images that's why they are so sharp. I do play around with the contrast and tones in my paint program after a scan (since the pieces are 3D and the cover of the scanner is up, the background then gets very dark) to get the exact color of the actual piece. Can't beat this resolution like that.

mmm... might be time to upgrade my printer system to the 3 in 1 I've been eyeing lately -_-

Or I'll play around with it more and try to clean the pictures up in Photoshop or PSP.

play with the contrast and with your fuzzy painbrush to get rid of the background. Works well.
