Sun, Fried Rice, and Cheese

... A bad combination.

Finished my Mom’s Gazebon on Sunday afternoon. It came out pretty nice and now it just needs to be painted. I shall post images soon, hopefully.

We went to eat something outside and everyone wanted Mexican, so we headed over to Taco Palenque (all fajita meals). I just had a bit of quesadilla and Mexican rice and beans that came with my family’s orders. After husband and I went home I did a couple of loads of laundry and then had some watermelon because I was feeling hungry.

I woke up at around 4 am feeling very ill from my stomach and nauseous. I ended up purging as much as possible. When Hubby awoke, I couldn’t get up myself. My entire body hurt and I had a terrible headache. I woke up again at around 9:30am and I was feeling very nauseous and I hurried to rid myself of whatever was in my stomach, which ended up being nothing but that clear, sour liquid - saliva and gastric juice? Bleh. I thought maybe I needed some food but just thinking about it made me even more nauseous. So I had some jicama.

I slept all day, just waking up to throw up nothing but more sour juices and then to try to eat something. I noticed I could stomach pineapple a lot more, but still it made me a bit nauseous, so I’d just go back to bed. I turned off all the fans and lowered the AC because I was having an awful lot of chills and my body felt so tired and aching. I had some muscle pains from the weekend work, but this was more of a fever type of pain. I had a headache the entire day and my eyes were burning.

When Husband came home I had another slice of pineapple and a few minutes later I began to shake again. My hands were clammy and I broke in a sweat. He made a call to his doctor and then to my Mother and I ran to the bathroom. I induced some vomiting, I really, really did and this time everything came out. Little chunks of pineapple and rice, or at least it looked like rice. So that must have been it.

My parents arrived a few minutes later and they brought me some Coke and an apple pie. I was able to stomach some of that but I was still feeling very weak and if I smelled anything else I felt bad. Mom told me to go to bed. She rubbed me down with an egg (in its shell) and cracked it open in a clear glass with water. Some of the white was cooked from my fever and there were a few bubbles here and there but that was all. She placed the glass by my side on the floor so that it would take in any extra heat during the night and they went back home.

I was beginning to feel better within 30 minutes and I woke up without any pain today. I am hungry but I haven’t eaten anything but a slice of fruit every 2 hours or so. Bananas have been good since they do take care of the hunger and give me strength. Oh I checked the egg in the morning... It was half-cooked. So yeah, it did take the remainder of my fever and stress during the night.

Gazebo for Mom

I’ve slacked off with mah blog. Okay, vehicle was fixed by Thursday the 17. The entire bumper was replaced and it looks great. They even washed the car for me. Yey! Of course, by now, it’s all dirty again. :p

Over the last weekend Hubby and I helped my parents with a project they have started. Mom wants a little gazebo of sorts for her back yard and we’ve begun construction.

It will be a fairly small one - 8x8. We didn’t want to go over 10x10 because then we would have needed a building permit (only 30 bucks to get it... but the waiting period is what we wanted to avoid). It will have a semi-open ceiling, sort of like window blinds, angled enough to let little sun thru.

Last Saturday we did four 2-feet deep holes to set the main posts; leveled them with the cool leveling thing-a-maggigy (you know, the one with the bubble and the water), added and subtracted sand until it was as we needed it and mixed some concrete to anchor down the posts. We let the concrete dry overnight.

By now the posts are all set up and we started making the frame... I have some pictures but I’ll be taking more tomorrow, when we’ll actually start working on the floor and finish up the skeleton for the roof.

It is lots of heavy work, especially with the high temperatures here (last weekend we were at 106) but it’s fun!

Okay, we’ll see how much we get finished tomorrow and Sunday. ^_^

A Quick and Dirty IQ Test

There is obviously something wrong with this test...

It has been proven that I am an idiot!

DSL

Oh gaw

I’m such an idiot.

Well, SBC is offering this nice 14.95/month deal on new DSL accounts and Husband checked our number and our subdivision can finally get DSL. We have had RoadRunner since we moved here and it’s been fine, but 14.95 beats 29.95... We get 1 year for the price of 6 months if we stayed on RR!

So we went online and got everything scheduled and we got our DSL activation day for Friday, June 10. June 10 came and went and still no DSL activity (those particular lights in the modem are not turning on). So I did all I could technically do without stepping over warranty boundaries and all that and called Tech support Friday night because all that day the machine operator would say that the DSL could be connected Anytime on Friday. Well, Friday night the tech support can only help you with step-by-step indications on how to hook up the modem. They couldn’t really run tests on the line or anything because that department was already closed.

So Saturday I wait until about mid-day and give them a call again and similarly to what was said the previous night, I had to wait because the Provision office was closed (I am guessing these are the ones that handle the accounts). So I had to wait till Monday.

Monday I was feeling lazy and didn’t feel like messing with any other machines except for my washer and dryer so I didn’t give a call.

Today, after dropping off my car at the shop (the new bumper is here so it is getting installed to leave my car like new! :p Or close to it) I cleaned the house, yadda, yadda... and I gave a call. I was on hold for... I guess like 12 minutes if I added all the little ‘on holds’ that took to go from department to department and while diagnostics were ran.

Finally I get to talk to a lady in this Provision department and she tells me that the reason the lights aren’t going on is because my phone line needs some work to get the DSL working and that I had been rescheduled for Wednesday, 15, and that I had been informed and I had said ‘yes.’

Oops.

That’s right.

I remember that on Friday at around 4pm I got a call from a lady and she said something about sending a technician over to check my phone line. I asked if it had to do with the DSL installation at my home (I don’t want a technician to come set it up for me... that would be $200 installation and then the whole savings would go out the windows) and she said no that I would still doing my own installation, that the visit was to check lines on the back. “Oh. Well sure, I guess. I’ll be home just tell the technician to ring the bell if anything is needed.” And that was that.

Misunderstandings. Tomorrow’s visit will indeed be to check up on my phone line to Activate the DSL (manually, I suppose) but he won’t be installing it (the modem to the computer).

Apologies given from me (because I am such a dork), I thanked the lady for clarifying and hung up.

:p

I should really pay more attention to what people tell me over the phone... or ask more questions.

Update

Tuesday, I went to my appointment with the Adjustor. Everything was alright and he placed an order for my bumper and as soon as it gets to the shop it will be painted, then I just have to go and get it changed (as opposed to leaving my car until they get the bumper and they paint it and all that). I will get a check for a rental anyway, even though I have my car. ^_^ So extra dough for me! I love Geico.

Wednesday, erm... oh yeah. I like... almost passed out. Husband came home from work and found me all tired, sad, and with a huge headache (it was as if I had a hammer banged into my skull). I have been having headaches this whole month, it is horrible. Some days are just very light, but the sensation is still there. Well this day it was bad. He got home and took my pressure (we have a wrist machine) and my pressure was 109/63 and heart rate like 60-something, can’t remember exactly. He was all worried because generally I am in the 115/78 range. He fed me (‘cause I hadn’t even been able to cook) and called my parents. He wanted to take me to the doc, but I refused. I don’t like going there especially without some sort of appointment! I wasn’t up to waiting 2 hours in that waiting room with the headache I had. I took a nap and then we went out so that I could get some air. I walked Tushi and even jogged a block.

Thursday, I still woke up with a headache but it was more bearable. After cleaning the house I started working on some renders, posing and morphing models. ^_^ Pretty happy with my projects and should be showing them off when I have the backgrounds set and all. My Mom and Sis came over to see me and check how I was doing, watched a movie on TV with me, critiqued my work, and when Hubby got home he took us out to eat.

Today... meh, I am doing alright, the wave of my headache is there on my left side only, so it’s not too bad. Oh yeash, I like finished putting a base coat of paint for the hall this monday. It is a gorgeous deep yellow (called Sunflower Yellow) and now that is completely dry I will be adding some bamboo motiff... hopefully. I first need to make the stencils and then mix the paints to get the shades I want.

*crosses fingers*

Bump

We went to my parents’ on Friday night and watched a movie with them. We left rather late and I forgot my purse with my driver’s license and all that in there. Well on Saturday we were going to pick it up and decided to take my car. Since I didn’t have my license husband drove, just to keep things safe.

We stopped at a small shopping center and ate a veggie sandwich. After we were done I told Husband that I wanted to look around at the front of the stores but he was not up to it and said we could do it another time. So fine, we got in the car he backed out.

*bump*

I heard the somewhat loud and flat thud and quickly looked back to see the car behind.

Damn.

We spent the next hour and a half talking to insurances and exchanging information and all that. I looked at my Husband and I told him “I asked for one look around the store fronts... just one. That would have been at least 5 minutes and we would have missed that car.” Then again, maybe it would have been another vehicle right? Maybe it could have been an accident in the road. But then, maybe not.

Poor Hubby, he was pretty ashamed.

The owner of the other vehicle took it well. Did not get upset or anything. Neither did we. 1) Husband did check back to see that no cars were coming but did it quickly and only once. 2) The car was not passing by when Husband started moving and he was going more than 10MPH in the parking lot. I guess in this situation, the rules goes: the one with the right of way is the one not at fault, so all of us agreed on that. The situation was tricky and we weren’t going to do a big deal on little details. My car has the corner of the bumper dented in, and the other car had the back, right passenger door pushed in where the bumper hit.

My car, a Chevy Malibu, was a present from my parents to me and I am the only one on the insurance. The car’s insurance covers the damage done to the other car (which happened to be a Mercedes, by the way). My Husband’s policy covers him in and Any car he may be driving (awesome), so his policy covers the damage done to my car. No deductible necessary.

If Husband would have been in the Malibu’s insurance, then the car’s insurance would have covered the damaged done to the other car, and then I would have had to pay my $500.00 deductible to fix the damage done to mine. I guess at least we saved those 500 bucks. Also, Husband’s policy will not go up because he has been a client with the company for like 10 years or so and this is his first accident where he has been at fault. He actually has bad luck when it comes to cars... people are always hitting the rear of his vehicle, trying to steal his cars (he used to drive sport cars when I met him and once in the actual dealer’s shop, someone tried to steal his Cougar!), or the worst was when there was a police chase and a stolen vehicle was running signs and reds and ended up crashing my husband pretty badly, totaling his brand new vehicle (Horrible, horrible. Husband survived out of miracle. The car looked like an accordion and pieces were everywhere).

So well, I’ve got an appointment tomorrow, Tuesday, with the adjustor and he’ll issue me a check so I can get my car repaired. It was only the bumper, so just that piece will get changed so hopefully by next week my car will be looking as new as it was.

... And I am not letting my Husband drive my car any more.
