Viridiana

My sis received a cute little pet, a miniature Chihuahua that she has named Viridiana. I hear that she is about half the size of my new baby. Wow. That’s small then. Chico is about ¾ of a foot, so then this little Chihuahua is like… pfft… too small for me to be able to calculate. Heheheh. I can’t believe I used to tutor math.

Viridiana at 1 month, 3 weeks

Oh yeah, it’s that time of the year when I go insomniac. I think I went to bed at around 3 am again and got up at 5am. I just can’t find the right spot to fall asleep in. I’ve been like this a little over a week. It will pass, but the problem is that it sure bothers the Hubby.

Oh well, he’ll have to deal with it. It’s tough! I try to sleep… but all I do is tumble around in bed listening to every single noise in the room. Very annoying. So instead I spend my time insomniac time reading online comics.

I know, I know. I should do something more productive but… Neeehhh. That’s what I have the morning for. Like today. ^_^ Since I’ve been up and about since so early, I raked all the grass from the driveway, swept the dirt off the concrete and later I will go wash it. Yey for me!

Busy Two Days

My husband helped organize a series of soccer matches at his work. Some sort of mini world cup for the warehouse, so it was up to the manager and the systems admin to get everything ready for this Saturday… Shawn (Mr. Manager) bought all things necessary for preparation of the games (jerseys, special paper, food, sodas, etc, etc) and ZA (Mr. Admin) was in charge of arranging the matches and creating the team logos and the cup… that meant that I would be the one taking the supplies and making them pretty on behalf of the Hubby.

So he brought me the materials on Thursday night and I made small flags which were then printed on a special ‘Fabric Paper.’ This paper is a treated cotton sheet that has adhesive on the back. You make your design and use an inkjet to print the image on the paper. Once it dries you can peel the back of the paper and place the cotton fabric on wherever it is supposed to go. I knew about the paper because I am always checking out paper costs for my 2-D works, but this was the first time that I actually worked with it. It is pretty expensive as well – about 5 bucks per letter-sized sheet, and unfortunately it is Non-washable, meaning that it is best for projects that are never going to get dirty (so don’t’ use it on clothes!). Apparently the fabric doesn’t retain the color too well. I would have used another type of paper, the ‘Transfer Paper’ or ‘Iron-transfer Paper.’ Same concept: 1) design the image; 2) INVERT image; 3) print using an ink-jet. 4) place on fabric with image down; 5) Iron! This one is washable and the sheets cost about a dollar each… But of course, I don’t’ think my husband or Shawn would have been ironing the flag logos on the shirts at work. So I guess these will be a one-time use shirts.

He also gave me a glass and a rubber ball… “That’s the trophy. Can you make it pretty?”

… ummmmmmmm. So there I was with a long beer glass and a neon rubber ball the size of a grapefruit. Hmmmmm. Only one thing to do to disguise it as a trophy! Papier Mache!

That took me since 1pm until about 11 at night to finish. I glued the pieces, covered them, dried the paper goo with the dryer, then painted them. I used gold pain for the cut (of course) and brown for the base. I think I went wrong on the base, maybe I should have left the whole thing gold… anyway. I used silver paper for the name plate and voila. I managed to improvise him a decent trophy for the guys’ little tournament.

Copa Bodega

It was a busy Friday and apparently it was worth it. His work buddies loved the shirts with their neat flags and the captain of the winning team took home a cute little trophy. ^_^

Now the update on the kitties: Chico is hunting down Chiquita!!! This is hilarious. The little things begins to chase Chiquita and she runs all around the house with him at her heels. Of course, once she gets tired she just turns around and slaps him once sending him careering across the room and that settles him down. There is still hostility from Chiquita towards Chico, but after warning him several times she just leaves on her own accord to another room. It’s better than before when she would just hide at some corner and would hiss at anything that got near her. Right now we can pet her for a bit and stuff.

Oh I made ‘Identity’ collars for the two of them. ^_^ I made them out of glass seed beads using a loom. The collars have the name of the kitty and our number so in case that they ever get lost, whoever finds them can easily just give us a call.

Chiquita's collar; phone number blurred... I don't want prank calls.

It's Been A Good Week

I’ve been keeping myself quite busy-busy! Mostly doing some crafts, taking care of the house and playing Fallout. I found my good ol’ game stashed in a box… I had been looking for it for the longest time! Boy am I glad I found it. I missed playing it. It is one of the best (to my very personal opinion) RPGs ever made!

The update on Chiquita: We’ve been going every other day to see her and she can handle Chico now! They are not all lovey-dovey, but she can stand him now. ^_^ Chico is getting so rough, though. He seems to have a perception problem… He thinks that he is bigger than she and DARES to jump on her and try to be all Big Macho Cat. Hehehe. Chiquita just pushes him away and he ends up rolling like 5 times over the carpet.

A big test for this weekend. My parents came to drop off Chiquita at the house. She will be staying with us this weekend and we’ll see how things go. Mom said that even if things went okay that she would still come pick her up on Sunday as to not to push things too quickly. Well, so far so good. The kids were alright; Chico trying to be all Baddie while Chiquita just glared at him. But at least they ate together and dun-dun-dun! I even caught them going to the kitty litter together! I think Chiquita was trying to cover up his scent and then he was trying to cover up hers… eeeeeeee Oh wells.

I am happy to have them together. I am crossing my fingers so that the weekend goes well.

We've Made a New Friend

One of our friends and his girlfriend came over to visit us from Laredo. ^_^ It was a fun weekend. We talked, caught a flick, went to the beach and enjoyed the company of everyone. We had quite a good discussions too! Two Bangladeshi men, a Mexican wife, and a Greek girlfriend, oh good discussions indeed.

I was quite nervous about meeting our friend’s girlfriend. One never has any idea of how the person will be. Many foreign students tend to be cocky, momma’s boys or daddy’s girls. It is not easy to come to study here in the US. You gotta be 1) very rich or 2) very smart… but even if you are smart, foreign students are required to have a bank account with 30,000 deposited before moving in to the states… and while 30,000 does not mean filthy rich… still you don’t find many people that Do have that sum of money in their banks over here. Of course, she is no longer in school. She graduated a while back and is successfully working in the Logistics industry. ^_^ A business lady for our techie buddy - well actually Hafi is not exactly a techie… He is a professor at Texas A&M International; graduated a semester after I did from the graduate program.

Well, I am relieved to say that she is a very down-to-earth lady, easy to talk to and with a very open mind. I liked her. Lots! Best of all, we can see that she loves our friend and as long as he is happy because she makes him happy then we are happy too!

On October we shall be the ones making the trip to Laredo and hopefully we’ll get together again.

Needing Space

I spent most of the morning crying. I went into the living room and I did not see my baby. She was not on the couch, nor was she stretched languidly on the table as she usually is early mornings. Chico is being very loveable, purring and meowing all the time… it is nice but I wish Chiquita was here as well.

Well, I cleaned the house and gave Chico another bath (poor thing, he’s had like a bath every day since he got here). He was an outside baby and he came with a lot of fleas. I pretty much got rid of all the fleas by day 2 but he these tiny, brownish thingies over his fur that mom mentioned could be flea eggs. So I brush him and shake his fur and all that stuff. He doesn’t scratch anymore, so that is a very good sign… not to mention I pretty much covered the carpet with anti-flea spray.

After Husband got home and I helped him prepare dinner, he took me over to see Chiquita. It went okay… she was still resentful since she did not let us touch her, but at least she was not hissing at us anymore. Plus mom said she had eaten very well - while she was at the house along with Chico, she completely stopped eating and didn’t even go to the bathroom at all! We were quite concerned. It seems like she simply needed her space.

We decided that we shall visit Chiquita about 3 to 4 times a week for an hour and take Chico along with us so that she can get used to him without getting bored of his baby crying and restless playing.

Sad Because of Chiquita

At the moment Chiquita seems to hate Chico and us too! We keep Chico away from her, mostly inside our bedroom and only take him out so that he can eat and go to the litter, but as soon as she sees him she begins to hiss and growl. She does the same to us, whether Chico is around or not. I have a pretty big scratch on my left arm from her.

Husband has decided that he will take Chiquita to mom and dad’s because he can’t deal with the stressing environment. He says that is as if we were all in one big fight and he can feel the tension in the room with Chiquita. I am terribly upset about this because as the ‘parents’ we should try to continue to fix the situation, instead of just giving her away.

He told me that I could go see her everyday if I wanted to… Somehow I feel it won’t be the same.

A New Baby

Surprise, Surprise

We got a new kitten. He is black with white patches… a big head and even bigger ears! A Gorgeous little kitten which we have named Chico. My parents brought it as a present for us. We had mentioned that we felt Chiquita was very lonely and we wanted to find a little one so that it would keep her company so when my mom saw the little kittens she asked for one and brought it to us! Yey! Our baby, Chiquita seems to be very jealous, however. Well check them out.

I had a pretty good time with my girlfriend. We ate at a hmm Vietnamese restaurant (I think… it could have been Korean too) for about 3 hours. ^_^ Hehehe. Took us that long to finish our foods. We caught up in news as much as we could. Then we made our way to Barnes & Noble and checked out all sort of books from Poetry to Fiction to Crafts. She showed me around and we tried to get a coffee afterwards but by that time most coffee shops of the area were closed so we just went back to her house and watched Dirty Dancing! It had been a loooong time since I had seen that one. Ahh well, we spent most of the night talking and went to bed at around 4 in the morning.

The next day we prepared breakfast and continued with the chatting until my hubby came to pick me up. We decided to get some pizzas and rent another movie to watch together. It was fun, I enjoyed it a lot. I hope to do this again with her some time soon. ^_^

Happy, Happy

Woo hoo! I got hold of one of my girlfriends, MZQ and we set up a date for tomorrow afternoon. Should be a nice little Girls' Night Out.

I: Baby!

Hubby: What?

I: Magda invited me out tomorrow. Can you take me?

H: Sure

I: But you can't stay.

H:Why not?

I: It's a girl thing only.

H: *suspicious look* ... What are you guys gonna go do?

I: You know... the usual girl stuff... eat, chat, chip & dales...

H: ~_~ Bad baby...

So tomorrow Hubby will drop me off at her house and we will meet with another acquaintance from college and once together we shall be going to Barnes & Noble. I guess they have some books they want to buy and stuff. After that we can probably eat something and then catch a movie. ^_^ Should be fun. I haven't been out with just girls in a long time. So I meet her tomorrow by 6 pm and then I stay the night (since we will probably get out of the movies late, or we may talk until late, or what have ya).

H: So at what time do I have to take you?

I: At 6 in the afternoon.

H: Six?! Why so late?

I: 'Cause it's a Girls' NIGHT out...

H: Oh... okay

heheheheheheee
